60 to the fore. Simultaneously while working for Dami studio, he also did illustrations for book publisher Fabbri, usually interior drawings on the various encyclopaedias they published. It is also rumoured that at the same time he did many covers for some of the pocket-sized western comics that were so popular around Europe in the 1950s. Actuallly, these comics were done by a team of Italian cartoonists under the name of EsseGesse, and Biffignandi didn’t have anything to do with them. Nonetheless, through Dami he started his collaboration with Fleetway for the British market in the mid to late ’60s. He worked on Fleetway Super Library covers on series such as Johnny Nero (who resembled Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni), The Steel Claw and The Spider.
