Their immediate task was to generate script and art for the comics that Gleason was publishing, which in 1941, with the US on the brink of war, firmly reflected an anti-Nazi mindset. Under Biro andWood’s stewardship, and with Biro’s inventive storytelling adding extra appeal with the introduction of the ‘Little Wise Guys’ to the Daredevil cast, sales climbed and Gleason’s line of comics was taking up a ABOVE & RIGHT: Covers to Daredevil , including issue 13 which saw the debut of Biro’s Little Tykesl who would eventually usurp the titular hero as main attraction.
