48 been gone some years now, but my mother never realised what a kindness she was doing me. Anyway what happens after that? I went to the secondary school and I got the prize, the Dux prize at art—drawing. Art is a very broad term. That was about the sum of my achievement at school. Played a lot of tennis, I started playing tennis when I was thirteen at the local park, joined a club here in Invergowrie would you believe? And… heavens above wouldn’t you know I met an Invergowrie girl and got married here and I’ve lived here ever since. Well I joined the folk of Invergowrie in 1948. And I played tennis here, I played the midland tennis league here in Scotland for Invergowrie. I played football for Invergowrie for about eight years. And then I got married at 25. I suffered an injury when I was still playing football. it was the very early days, I injured my hand, I played in goal for Invergowrie and one of my own team ran back onto my hand to get the ball. It went back and I think it doubled back the whole way. It didn’t break but my hand went up like a balloon. PR: This is your drawing hand we’re talking about? GL: This is my right hand, my drawing hand and I was only married a year Some of the most visually exhilirating Commando comics were ones that featured Livingstone artwork on both the covers and interiors. These examples span the years 1990 to 1996 and show that he was as comfortable with paint and brush as he was pen and ink.
