Later during dinner with Modesty, Willie and Danny Chavasse he asks if they have heard anything about a new drug-dealing group which might be seeking to expand in the U.K. When the group tries to murder Modesty’s friend Dave Goss and then kidnaps Danny, he is able to help. The gang is based in a house called “Apollyon” owned by his old friend Viscount Maycroft. He persuades Maycroft to allow Gogol’s Circus to use the field next to the house to enable Modesty and Willie to rescue their friend. Calls in at “The Treadmill” for a roundup of events from Modesty and Willie. TAYLOR, Steve An F.B.I. agent. STORY 6: “UNCLE HAPPY”: STRIP 615 Meets Modesty when he is posing as an underwater photographer while keeping a watching brief on Walter Dee. Goes with her to Las Vegas and is rescued by her when Dee attempts to have him murdered. With the approval of his F.B.I. bosses he joins Modesty and Willie in a secret raid on Dee’s island. When they are caught he has to fake his death in a fight with Willie in order to escape.Returns with an F.B.I. force in time to clear up the mess Modesty and Willie have made of Dee’s gang. STORY 14: “THE GALLEY SLAVES” TEXT ONLY STRIP 1596 When Modesty and Willie meet up with the film crew off Tahiti using a Roman trireme he is referred to by Eddie Grant, the director of the film, as a friend. STORY 26: “THE GALLOWS BIRD”: STRIP 2989 When Modesty and Willie inadvertently become involved in the blackmail plot being run by General Laporte to flood New Orleans he is already on it in his F.B.I. capacity. It is he who has to deliver the two million dollars ransom as instructed and when the money has been collected, helps Modesty and Willie get on to the Laporte’s yacht to finish the job and recover the cash. TAYLOR, Steve (continued) STORY 45: “DOSSIER ON PLUTO”: STRIP 4942 Now working on dolphin research after having been invalided out of the F.B.I. (NOT the C.I.A. as reported by Willie in Strip 4938 unless he was transferred after Story 26). Helped by Modesty, Willie and Sir Gerald Tarrant to foil a K.G.B. plot to steal his research. They also put Gaspar, a dolphin poacher, out of business permanently. STORY 91: “CHILDREN OF LUCIFER”: STRIP 9701 Now back with the F.B.I and working in San Diego he is called up by Modesty when she discovers that there is to be a major meeting of heads of Mafia families at nearby “Blackwings”, headquarters of Children of Lucifer the Satanist cult being used as the cover for a major drugs operation. Arrives with a team of agents and cleans up the inevitable mess left by Modesty and Willie. TEN-DAL A Khamba tribesman known as The Bonecrusher STORY 10: “THE BLACK PEARL”: STRIP 1165 One of the three Khambas beaten in a fight by Modesty when she has to prove to Djut that she is the true person sent to save The Black Pearl. When the fight is over she bandages his head and hopes she has not hurt him. It is he who accompanies Willie on a recce of Sendring and is most useful when they are stopped by some Chinese troops. STORY 92: “DEATH SYMBOL”: STRIP 9808 Delighted to see “Mostiblaise” and Willie again. With Djut and the other Khambas, he joins in freeing the village of Tsam-La from its occupation by a group of Chinese army deserters led by Kang and in the process freeing Maureen Boyd to help Willie discharge his debt to her father, Paddy, for having saved his life.
