She has been kidnapped by Sweet Caroline and is being held prisoner in order to force her husband to make bombs for them. Her fear of heights makes rescuing her more difficult but Modesty and Willie manage. STEFAN STORY 60: “THE DOUBLE AGENT” STRIP 6427 Member of Hakil’s Alpha Team in his plot to assassinate Sir Gerald Tarrant. The hooded man in the holographic house he is warned by Modesty not to turn around because she has a gun on him. When he ignores the warning he gets a bullet in his shoulder. STENNER STORY 64 “SAMANTHA AND THE CHERUB” STRIP 6918 One of Lamarette’s gang at the house where he is keeping Modesty and Lucy Kolin prisoner. While Modesty and Willie are fighting the gang he catches Samantha Brown unawares and holding a knife to her throat, forces Modesty and Willie to surrender. Gets a knife in his arm from Willie for his pains and is not allowed to bleed all over a bokhara rug. STONE, Miriam STORY 16: “THE HELL-MAKERS”: STRIP 1795 Psychologist and senior member of the Kremlin cell operated by Alex Kazin. Arranges the kidnap of Willie and his subsequent mind bending treatment. Her psychological appraisal of Modesty led her to believe that Modesty would not harm her when she was shown the video of Willie’s predicament. It proves to be a fatal error of judgement. STORTZ STORY 7: “TOP TRAITOR” STRIP 832 One of the guards at Graf von Schuyler’s castle near Storgen. Luckily for him it is not until he is relieved from his patrol that Willie begins the action in the rescue of Sir Gerald Tarrant STOTT, Giggler STORY 39: “IDAHO GEORGE” STRIP 4371 One of the gang run by Anastasia Bone. Takes part in the beating up of Modesty while she is restrained in a straight jacket. His head is used by Willie to render him and one of his associates unconscious. Left to be rounded up by Inspector Brook STRANGLER STORY 39: “IDAHO GEORGE”: STRIP 4342 One of the gang run by Anastasia Bone and also acts as butler. Supervises the beating up of Modesty while she is restrained in a straight jacket. Thinks the guru is a fraud and expects to have to kill him. In the final fight he tries to hit Modesty with a chair and is severely damaged by her drop kick. Presumed rounded up by Inspector Brook. STROBEL (1) STORY 43: “EVE AND ADAM” STRIP 4797 Member of the mercenary force led by Colonel Q to steal the Burenzi satellite capsule and in charge of the radio locator needed to find it. Follows the signals and takes the force into the trap laid by Modesty and Willie. Stripped and unshod and left to find his own way home. STROBEL (2) STORY 76 “A PRESENT FOR THE PRINCESS” STRIP 8130 Top criminal in Toccopina and fence for Azul and the other bandits that infest the hinterland. When Joe Ling reports that Willie has lost his memory he agrees to Ling’s plan to try to bring Willie under his control. STRICKLAND, John (a.k.a. The College Boy) STORY 17: “TAKEOVER”: STRIP 1975 A rather nasty British criminal with a record for fraud, blackmail and grievous bodily harm among other things. Has joined with the Mafia in its attempt to take over the U.K. crime scene. Enjoys beating Modesty up to get information she wants him to have anyway.
