It all goes wrong when Miguel’s bandits kidnap Willie with her by mistake. Lamont then hi-jacks Miguel’s men and takes her and Willie as prisoners by helicopter to the porno and snuff movie making studios on Chimu Peak run by Milord. Has to take part in a film. Offers prayers to St. Damian, St. Amand again, and St. Dysmas. STORY 79: “GUIDO THE JINX”: STRIP 8394 With Guido on location of a film in the remote area between Samarkand and the Caspian Sea. It is for her sake that Modesty and Willie agree to do the stunt for the film which nearly kills them but also puts them in postion to help Colonel Greb. Persuades Willie to make love to her on the top of a mountain because she has never done that and the mountain is available. Offers prayers to St. Camillus, St. Jude, St. Nicholas, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Bernard of Aosta, St. Oswald, St. Maurice, St. George and St. Francis. STORY 93: “THE LAST ARISTOCRAT”: STRIP 9884 Has at last set a date with her long time boyfriend Guido Biganzoli for their wedding. With him she parachutes down to the yacht off Corfu on which Modesty and Willie are relaxing with Sir Gerald Tarrant in order to invite them to the wedding at the village of Caglienda, her birthplace. When Guido fails to turn up she decides to take her honeymoon with Willie and only later realises Guido has gone off in search of a story about Granny Smythe and a big terrorist arms deal on the nearby island of Asiago. She tells Willie who immediately alerts Modesty and Tarrant and with her local knowledge she guides them to where Guido is eavesdropping of Granny Smythe. Offers prayers to St. Maturinus and St. Gervase and eventually gets to marry Guido. 4 ANDY STORY 3: “THE GABRIEL SET-UP” STRIP 227 A friend of Modesty’s, he is staying with her in the country. He is the first of her occasional bedfellows to appear in the strip stories. His visit ends when Sir Gerald Tarrant arrives for the weekend. ANGELA STORY 48: “THE SCARLET MAIDEN” TEXT ONLY STRIP 5259A Girlfriend of Willie’s in Barbados. She gives him the elbow but he isn’t too upset as it frees him to visit Modesty who is on holiday on the nearby island of St. Cyprian. ANGELO Venetian orphan living rough with his sister Francesca only because if they stay in the orphanage they will be separated. When he steals a pomegranate he is saved from the police by Modesty who then takes him to a restaurant and has him fed. Eats until he makes himself sick but when Modesty’s friend Max Aquino arrives he steals his briefcase containing information about the treasure hidden at Palazzo Belcari. He sells this to Count Alborini thus alerting the Count for the first time to the existence of the treasure, putting himself, his sister and Max in great danger. He is rescued a second time by Modesty when Alborini sends his men to kill him and Francesca. Modesty at last makes provision for them to stay in a joint home. ANIELA The girlfriend of Guido Biganzoli with a wonderful variety of prayers and saints suitable for all emergencies. STORY 51: “THE BALLOONATIC”: STRIP 5528 Unable to accompany Guido in his flight in a balloon because of her fear of heights she joins Willie in the chase car which follows it. When Modesty and Guido get into trouble she is taught to drive in half an hour by Willie so that she can go to Rome to alert Signor Vinezzi about Count Orlando Smythe and fetch a rescue party. Offers prayers to St. Christopher, St. Jude, St. Francis de Sales, St. Dysmas and St. Amand and St. Therese of Lisieux.
