She runs a tough seaman’s bar in Tampico. Seduced by Willie when he pretends to be a security consultant and appears to take a beating defending her honour. She is fed false information by Willie about the security at the dolphin centre at Galeana Bay which she passes on to Gaspar as intended. ROSSI STORY 32: "THE RELUCTANT CHAPERON": STRIP 3652 Mafia hit man sent to Malta by the Croce family to kill Calzini head of a rival family. The two groups are trying to take over the island’s crime. Modesty saves him when he is about to be murdered by Calizini family s o l d i e r s without knowing who either party is. He rather embarrasingly falls in love with her and he allows himself to be used by Modesty to foil Calzini. It also puts an end to his chance to do the job he was sent for. Put ashore off the coast of Linosa with the rest of the Mafia contingent, all of them thoroughly discouraged as to the opportunities for them or their families available on Malta. ROUELLE, Denise (alias Lysette) STORY 11: “THE MAGNIFIED MAN”: STRIP 1243 French Deuxième Bureau agent working undercover for René Vaubois to get inside Herr Bilke's gang and find out about his plans to steal a two ton gold shipment shortly due to be transported from Marseilles to Paris by train. A casual meeting with Willie in the street outside a café in St Jean de Luz inadvertently blows her cover and Bilke orders her death. That evening at the bull fight arena Modesty and Willie try to get her to safety but she is stabbed by Andre, one of Bilke’s men, but fortunately not fatally. When Willie brings flowers to the hospital she issues a threat to him that she will get her own back when she gets out and he had better be on hand. ROUTH STORY 16: “THE HELL-MAKERS” TEXT ONLY STRIP 1873 One of Kazin’s men on Glory Heights. When Modesty arrives to rescue Willie and starts shooting he is told to outflank her and take her from behind. May be the man that Sheba attacks when gets the drop on Modesty from behind but not specifically identified. ROUVET, J.M. STORY 1 “LA MACHINE” STRIP 54 Paris lawyer and area manager for La Machine. Finds a cryptic message left in his high security office safe which says – "I have a proposition - Modesty Blaise" . He at once informs Raut who then has Modesty kidnapped in order to discover how she found out about his organisations set up. ROWLAND, John STORY 34 “THOSE ABOUT TO DIE” STRIP 3832 Decathlon champion. One of the nine other combat experts besides Willie who has been kidnapped to be a Gladiator in the roman Games that are to provide the climax to Dom Tregallion’s final party. When Modesty gives the signal to break out and kills the first one of the mercenary guards he uses his skill with the javelin to kill the second ROYLE, Ted STORY 95“THE ZOMBIE”: STRIP 10096 Brings the racehorse Handsome Harry to the meeting point outside Friston with Dave Goss, who is thinking about buying it and has asked Modesty to look at the horse with him. Gives it a run out while they both watch and then hands it over to Modesty who gives it a short trial.
