This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Ken Petts.

When King Edward was twelve years old he was involved in a dramatic incident in which he saved the life of his half sister, Elizabeth. One day Elizabeth insisted on mounting her brother's horse.

The animal dashed away in the direction of the River Thames, leapt over a well and plunged into the water. Edward immediately jumped on another horse and galloped in pursuit. He rode the horse into the river and managed to rescue Elizabeth.

Original artwork for Look and Learn issue no 1003 (30 May 1981).
